Lucille Cordray, 80, of Neptune, NJ passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. She was born on January 24, 1937 in Savannah, GA to Rev. James A. and Elizabeth Cordray.
Lucille began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) employed at Dr. Henry Vaccaro’s office in Asbury Park, NJ. She later became a Registered Nurse and the founder, administrator of Howell Haven Residential Health Care Facility in Farmingdale, NJ. Lucille operated the facility for fifty years until her retirement in September 2017. She was a lifelong resident of Neptune since 1954.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents, Rev. James A. and Elizabeth Cordray; two brothers, James I. Cordray and Arthur Cordray; sister, Jerry G. Williams; brother-in-law, Willie “Shortie” Williams; nephew, Charles G. Williams; and sister-in-law, Geneva Cordray.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Cordray and wife, Hazel of Neptune, NJ; four grandchildren, Stacy, Walter and wife, Stefnee, Nik and wife, Danielle, and Jovan; seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
