William Burnam III, aka Abdul Rahman Hassan, passed away on September 3, 2020 in Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown, NJ. He was born on December 7, 1949 in Neptune, NJ to William Burnam, Jr and Virginia White.
He resided in Newark, NJ in his early childhood, then later moved to Asbury Park, NJ. William attended the Asbury Park school system and converted to Islam in his early adult life.
He had a love for the martial arts and trained under Master Henry. William taught martial arts in his dojo and various other places within the community. He had a tremendous positive impact on his community, and the people with whom he taught self-defense and self-discipline.
He was predeceased by his son, Arrigo Rogers; two brothers, Wayne, and Steven; parents, William Burnam, Jr and Virginia White; and paternal grandmother, Annie Belvette.
He is survived by his children, Carla Boyd and Lenise Horner; 3 grandchildren, Sekena Scales, Tajh Boyd, and TJ Boyd; 3 great grandchildren, Ricky, Jr, Yannyl, and Lynnay; brother, Mervin; and very special friend, Gina Nieves.
