Rosetta A. Stanton, known as “Rose,” departed this life Thursday, August 14, 2025. She was born August 20, 1946, in Melbourne, FL to the late Ruby Mae Smith and Ernest Williams. She was one of eleven children born. Rose attended Stone High School and was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
She married a handsome soldier and the love of her life, Robert E. Stanton, known as “Bobby”. Their union included a beautiful baby girl, Karen D. Williams. They soon became proud parents of two additional children, Rosalind Williams and Robert Stanton, Jr.
Rose and Robert met in Florida as he was stationed at Patick Air Force Base. They then settled to Long Branch, NJ with other family members.
Rose was a stay-at-home mom for many years. As the children grew older, she began to work. Her employment was EAI, Wheelock of Long Branch. She also was a crossing guard at Monmouth University and security guard at Monmouth Park Racetrack.
Rose was a member of Second Baptist Church for many years until precluded by her health. She would often attend Hope International Ministries with Pastor Mary E. Mallory and Elder Florence Williams, with her daughter and granddaughters. Rose was also a member of Phyllis Wheatley Temple of Bates Lodge of Red Bank, NJ.
Rose was known to be a “tough cookie”. She led with determination, strong willfulness and a no-nonsense appeal, but had great love for people. Rose loved interacting with others. She enjoyed making people laugh and smile.
She also had a great love for music and dance and enjoyed shopping. She would always tell me about her experience with two of her many places to shop, which were Macy’s and Lord and Taylor. Before you knew it her daughter was right there by her side. She was well-known in the community as well as the employees of the Monmouth Mall. Almost all the employees knew her by name and loved her.
Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert E. Stanton, Sr., daughter, Karen D. Williams, granddaughter, Tracey N. Williams, and nine brothers and sisters.
Leaving to cherish her precious memories are her son, Robert E. Stanton and partner, Maria Villavieja, daughter, Rosalind Williams and partner, Derrick House, nine grandchildren, Mya and Kyla House, Ziadaeya Wendy Nichols, Denise Oglesby Stanton, Jason and Robert White, Mishia Pemberton, Jazir Jackson, Nature Johnson, two sisters, Myrtis Williams of Belle Glade, FL, Ernestine Williams of Melbourne, FL, along with a host of many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dear friend, Mike Jones, and extended family of special friends and love ones.
“Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”
