"I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course and I have kept the faith!"

On the night of February 27, 2024, Robert transitioned from his earthly life in reward for his eternal heavenly home. Robert Earl Royal was born on September 3,1940 in Newberg, New York. He was the second child of Forest and Lessie Rich Royal.

At an early age, the family relocated to Clinton, North Carolina where attended the school system. Robert graduated with honors from Sampson High School in 1958. After High School, he moved to Brooklyn, NY and joined the Army.

Robert retired from the army after serving 25 years. He enjoyed being in the military and often, he would share stories about his experiences in the army and parachuting out of planes in the United States Army Airborne Division. He felt honored to have served his country.

After leaving the military, he matriculated to New York University and majored in Computer Engineering, graduating with honors. Robert worked at a Computer Firm in Manhattan, New York for many years. After he retired, he would repair computers for several friends and family. Robert was extraordinarily talented and brilliant. He could take a broken radio and put it back together and was a genius with computers.

Robert was a "No Nonsense" person and did not deal with any foolishness or ignorance. He was very straightforward and did not play! Robert always greeted people with a big smile. He was loved for his infectious good nature, humor, kindness, endless hospitality, and his sincere enjoyment of spending precious time with his son, Sean, and his wonderful grandchildren, Cayden and Makai.

Robert was a gentle giant and had a heart of gold and found much joy in the simpler things in life. His memory was like that of an elephant. He remembered everyone he met, strangers, his classmates, their parents, and grandparents, where they lived, who got married, how they met and how everyone was related. He was your typical "Register of Deeds".

Robert was a man of faith and had a genuine love for Jesus Christ. He gave his life to Jesus Christ several years ago. He was a faithful member of a non-denominational church in New Jersey until his health declined.

Robert had a special love for his favorite niece, Dianne Royal Taylor of Maryland, whom he affectionately called his sister, cousin, Dot Sampson of NJ, and aunt, Annie Catherine Howell of Texas. He loved his children, LTanya, Robin, Cassandra, Sean, and Tiara with all his heart.

His only son, Sean, was his caregiver and his right hand. Sean was very loyal, committed and dedicated to his father. He helped in making pertinent decisions regarding his health issues. Robert would often say that Sean was the “apple of his eye” and was very special to him.

Robert's best friend was Bill Phillip. He would often say that Bill was a very loyal and dependable friend who he cared for a lot.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Forest and Lessie Royal, brothers, Weldon Royal, and Ervin Lee Royal. He is survived by his son, Sean Royal (Konnie) of Tinton Falls, NJ, Robin Royal of Middletown, NJ, LTanya Arthur-Mensah (Dr. Theophilus) of Amherst, Ohio, Tiara Fleming of Asbury Park, NJ, and Cassandra Kogel of Germany, two stepdaughters, Sheila Royal-Moses (Rick), and Luchenda Nicole Bonds, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a whole host of cousins, nieces, and nephews that he loved.
