Richard Douglas Evains, 63, of Ocean Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at home in his Ocean Township apartment. Richard (AKA Dickie) was born on March 28,1959 at Fitkin Memorial Hospital of Neptune, NJ to Rudolph (AKA Rudy) and Marian Evains.
Richard attended the Asbury Park School system and later moved and to Neptune, NJ where he graduated from Neptune Sr. High School in 1977. He attended college while serving in the Army. Richard received the Army Commendation Medal as Specialist Four while assigned to Battery B, 29th Field Artillery during the period of November 1978 to October 1981. He also worked for the New Jersey Transit Bus System for 21 years. Richard received a Certificate of Achievement for his years of dedication and excellent service last year from New Jersey Transit System.
He was a loving and dedicated son, who made sure that he cared for his mother until she transitioned from this life on May 5, 2022. To be around him was to love him. Everyone would tell you that he was a loving and kind person. Richard was a giving person with a kind heart. He recommitted his relationship with God and his church, Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park, NJ under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Semaj Y. Vanzant, Sr. He also joined the Men’s Ministry there. He was looking to get back to his roots of being committed back to the Lord and the church that he grew up in.
He was predeceased by his father, Rudolph (AKA Rudy) T. Evains and Marian L. Evains. Richard (AKA Dickie) is survived by his one sister, Trudy Lockamy-Watt, Minister of Ocean Township, NJ, one aunt, Rachel E. Lattimore of Neptune City, NJ, one uncle, Larry Adrian Peek of Los Angeles, CA, one nephew, one niece, great nephews, great nieces, many cousins, first cousins, best friend, Michael Murphy, good friend, Pastor Robert Sykes, and many more friends that share in his bereavement. Richard (AKA Dickie) will surely be missed and remembered for his kindness, love, and his wonderful heart.
