Reverend Evelyn was born on May 15, 1951, in Tuskegee, Alabama. She graduated from Allentown High School and went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in theology from Freedom Bible College. She was a faithful woman of God and enjoyed worship as a member of Old Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Reverend Jefferson often shared the story of making mud pies for the Lord as a child and her adoration for the Lord Jesus Christ intensified as she shared the Gospel with everyone who crossed her path. She regularly volunteered as a Chaplin at CentraState Hospital. She had the gift of Prophecy which she used to minister to family, friends, and others in need. She ministered to people in nursing homes and prisons, and her prayer line was always open for prayer requests.
Reverend Evelyn married Reverend Mikel Jefferson on June 23, 1995. Both were employed by 3M company where she remained 35 years before achieving early retirement at age 54.
Reverend Evelyn often shared the story of how she prayed for God to send her a help mate and while at work one day the Lord spoke to her and said, “Lift your head before you miss your blessing.” As she lifted her head, her eyes met Reverend Mikel’s and their beautiful union of love began.
After early retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the country and spreading the word of God as they spent 3 months of the year vacationing on road trips to various states across the country. In 2008, the Lord blessed them with opening the doors of their own church home, Thy Faith Hath Made Thee Whole Ministries.
Reverend Evelyn enjoyed playing badminton and affectionately caring for the hundreds of indoor and outdoor plants around her home. She loved her family dearly, supported them faithfully and always showed up to celebrate their accomplishments. She taught them to “Prepare to Achieve and Expect to Succeed.” She loved attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events and school activities.
Reverend Evelyn said when the Lord called for her, she would not be afraid, and her family is comforted knowing Reverend Evelyn was greeted by her loved ones with open arms as she entered the Kingdom of Heaven. On the morning of June 5, 2023, at age 72, our Heavenly Father bestowed angel wings upon His precious child, Reverend Evelyn Jefferson. She was a devout, holy, and righteous servant.
She is survived by her husband, Reverend Mikel Jefferson; daughter, Shontel and husband, Valdez Torney (Brick NJ); daughter, Shazel and husband, Johnnie Muhammad (Cherry Hill, NJ); grandchildren, Shakira Ashley, Seven Muhammad, Isaiah and Jordan Torney; great- grandchildren, Abijah and Maya Jefferson, and Kairo Muhammad; brother, Arthur and wife, Valerie Fitzpatrick (Lakewood, NJ); sister, Patricia Fitzpatrick; sister-in-law, Cleo Fitzpatrick; and her dearest friend, Mattie (Ree) Stewart. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Needham and Annie Lee Fitzpatrick, siblings, Major, Needham Jr., Leon, and many aunts and uncles.

Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
