Ramona Lisa Brown, 63, of Jackson, NJ peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, December 24, 2021. She was born in 1958 in Maryville, TN to Shirley Migyone Clowney and Cato Clowney Jr.
Following her graduation from Ocean Township High School, Ocean Township, NJ, she attended Tennessee State University, TN, where she received her bachelor's degree in business management. She was employed as a manager in men's clothing at Macy's Department Store from 1982-1988.
After taking a few years to stay home and raise her children, she started and had since been working as a paraprofessional at H.C. Johnson Elementary School, NJ. Additionally, she served as a camp counselor at multiple schools and Hope Cathedral where she will be remembered for sharing her love, joy, and creativity with the children.
On November 21, 1978, Ramona became a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Alpha Chi Chapter at the Tennessee State University, TN campus. She was number twenty-one in the line of twenty-eight lovely young ladies. She served the sorority faithfully for forty-three years and was currently a member of the Monmouth County Alumni Chapter.
Ramona was a devoted member of Hope Cathedral in Jackson, NJ where she was a creative asset to the design team, High Hope Day Camp lead counselor, and leader in the children's church youth ministry. Prior to joining Hope Cathedral, she was a dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church, NJ. There she served on the design team, as a leader in the children's church youth ministry, and was an outstanding coach for the Lakewood Chapter of the New Jersey Orators.
Ramona was a very active and well-respected person in her community who was loved by all. She was a dedicated member of ]ack and Jill, Incorporated from 1992-2011 where she served as the president and vice president of the organization. She made a substantial impact on the lives of children and their families. Additionally, she served as a Girl Scout troop leader from 1999-2007, where she helped young girls develop into their full potential and use their gifts to positively impact society
She is loved and missed by countless individuals and will be remembered for her teaching spirit, infectious smile, ability to spread endless light, pour out love, and spread joy.
Ramona was predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret Brown and Laurie Brown, sister-in-law, Karen Brown, and nephew, Marcus Clowney.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Wayne Alexander Brown, 3 loving children, Christopher Alexander Brown (Julianne), Jared Lawrence Brown, and Courtney Simone Williams (Erik), loving mother and father, Shirley Migyone Clowney and Cato Clowney, Jr., brothers, Edwin Lamarr Clowney and Cato Ray Clowney, grandchildren, Rainey Simone Brown and Savannah Noelle Williams, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry L. Brown and Wanda Iris Brown, great aunt, Elva Esther Duncan, two nieces, Tia Hill (Reggie) and Elana Filoramo (Jason), nephew, Kyle Clowney, 4 great nephews, Nathan, Miles Hill, Mason, and Cameron Filoramo.
