Origra Richardson

Origra “Mr. Rico” Richardson, Sr. was born On August 29, 1940 in Jackson, Alabama to Ran and Lucille Richardson. He passed on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. 

At a young age his family relocated from Jackson, Alabama to the towns of Plateau and Saraland, Alabama.  He attended high school in Plateau.  However, he was unable to complete four years as he and his older brother helped their dad to build their family home which remains in the family today. Origra married Doris Richardson, from that union they had 5 children together, 4 boys and 1 girl.    

As a result of helping to build his family home he acquired masonry skills.  Mr. Rico became a Brick Mason.  In fact, he was a top-notch Brick Mason in Central Jersey and South Jersey, giving 110% of himself.  He would always say “Let your work speak for you to make the dollars that you want”.  He started his own business, O&A Construction and continued to operate it until he became ill in 1998.  He taught his brothers and sons the construction business.  He also worked in New York.  In Massachusetts he helped to build Arthur Treacher’s, a famous Fish and Chips Food Chain.

In 1983 he married Angelouise Richardson, the love of his life.  They settled in Neptune, NJ where Mr. Rico lived out his last days.  This past April 23rd they celebrated 39 years of marriage. Origra loved his family and enjoyed going back home to Alabama.  While there he enjoyed telling tall tales and hunting with his family.

Origra Richardson will be painfully missed but never forgotten.  He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Margorie, Vernice and Voncille, two brothers, Randolph and Willie Ray, and niece whom he adopted Rayshanna Richardson.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Angelouise Richardson of Neptune, NJ, four sons, Anthony (Victoria) Richardson of Los Angeles, CA, Origra (Tammy) Richardson Jr., Frankie (Peggy) Richardson, and Demetrius Richardson, all of Neptune, NJ, one daughter, Shanta (Victor) Cyrus, Neptune, NJ,  step-daughter, Karen Key, Tinton Falls, NJ, grandchildren Shana Bell of Neptune, NJ, Jacqueline Richardson of Los Angeles, CA, Shareese and Shakena Richardson, Dara Craft, Shakeem and Shaneece Richardson, Victoran Cyrus, and Tyrell Durant all of Neptune, NJ, four brothers, Gene (Thomasina) Richardson of Long Branch, NJ, Joe Neal (Elaine) Richardson of Ocean, NJ, Calvin (Janice) Richardson of 8 miles, AL, Alvin Richardson of Saraland, Al, two sisters, Joanne Williams and Juza Pope of  Prichard, Al, niece Darleen Phillips, Ocean, NJ,  great-nephew Nasjhir Richardson of Apex, NC, and a hosts of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
