Mary Thomas

Mary Thomas, 90, of Lakewood, NJ was born on July 29, 1931, in Headland, Alabama to the late Clayton and Selfie Lee Thomas. Mary was the fourth of fifteen children of which seven preceded her in death.

At an early age, Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a faithful member of Asbury Park Deliverance Evangelistic Center under the leadership of Apostle Herbert J. Sneed. She later became a faithful member of Pillars of Harvest Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Antonious Thigpen, where they lovingly called her Mother Thomas.

Mary was a domestic engineer for many years to care for her family. Her favorite Bible scripture was Deuteronomy 31:6- “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them: for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Her favorite song was Lee Williams – Steal My Joy, where we would always find ourselves praising the Lord right in the middle of the living room floor.

Mary is survived by her six children, Larry Thomas (Carol), Orlando Thomas (Robbie), Betty Thomas (Michelle-deceased), Anita Crooks (Dave), Geraldine Allen (Martel), and Mae Thomas, eight grandchildren, Rockil Macon (T’Pring), Alicia Thomas (Andrew), Tiffany Thomas, Michelle Thomas, Malcolm Thomas, Patrick Thomas, Markus Thomas, and Deion Crooks, two great-grandchildren, Patrick Thomas Jr., and August Thomas to cherish many memories she shared with each of them, siblings, whom she loved dearly, Mellinee Walker of Lakewood, NJ, Ophelia Walker of Lakewood, NJ, Betty Hamilton of Coco Beach, FL, Mable Simpson of Melborne, FL, Jerry Thomas of Vero Beach, FL and Wade Thomas of Headland, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
