Lillie Mae Jones of Asbury Park, New Jersey, peacefully departed this life on February 27, 2026. Born November 15, 1940, in Conway, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Bernie Long and Julia Bell Grice-Long.

She graduated from Whittemore High School before relocating to New Jersey, where she built her life and legacy. She was a devoted member of New Life Tabernacle Church under Rev. Byron P. Wess.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James E. Jones; her siblings Pearl Lucille McKeever, Rosalie Long, Christine Gardner, Harold Long, and Kenneth Long; and her granddaughter, Cassie Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: James Earl Long; Deathre Jones Freeman (Richard Freeman); Jennifer Ann Young (Roger Young); and Vincent Edward Jones (Jackie Jones). She is also survived by her sister Cleo Vernon; her sister-in-law Emma Long; her favorite cousin, Bishop Eugene Long Jr. (Lila); and a host of cherished nieces and nephews. Among her special nieces and nephews were Shirl, Peggy, Ann Levy, Robert Lee, and Alice Jones Gleason.

Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Dequon Long; Maurice Jones (Jennifer); Queana Johnson; Isiah Jones (Tonya); Billy Jones; Lauren Russell (Elraheem); Syeisha Dawson (David); Shakeeya Summers; and Mercedes Long, along with many great-grandchildren and extended family members.

She found joy in tending to her garden, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and playing bingo at the Asbury Park Senior Center. In her later years at Complete Care at Ocean Grove, she was affectionately known as “Snack Attack.” The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their compassionate care.

Lillie Mae was known for her gentle spirit, calm presence, and welcoming heart. Her quiet strength and unconditional love anchored generations.
