Herbert Jackson Sr. was born December 12, 1928, to Lucious Jackson and Ida Mae Jones in Orlando, FL. He was united in holy matrimony to Ellen Jackson on May 3, 1948, and they remained married until his death, celebrating 77 years of marriage. They had two beautiful children, Herbert Jr. and Gwendolyn.
Herbert Sr. worked for Mrs. Macks bakery for 35 years in Newark, NJ and had a second career working for the City of Chicago.
He was a founder and member of Faith Baptist Tabernacle Church in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed his wife’s cooking.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; beloved daughter, Gwendolyn Chavis, and brothers, Oscar Ray and Charles “Buddy” Jackson.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, Ellen Jackson, son, Herbert Jackson Jr., son-in-law, James Chavis, four grandchildren, Denise Chavis, Jamie Chavis-D’onofrio, Thomas Scott Jackson, and Yolanda Victoria Jackson, and a host of relatives and friends.
