Deacon Guy Lovette Credle was born July 13,1941 in Mesic, NC to the late Deacon Homer E. Credle and Roseaddie Smith Credle. He was the 9th child of ten born to that union. He made his peaceful transition into the heavenly realm on October 13, 2023.
Deacon Credle worked on the farms and was educated in the Mesic/Bayboro school system. He graduated from Pamilico County Training School in 1960. Deacon Credle played basketball throughout high school, was on the Yearbook Committee and drove the school bus.
After graduating high school, Deacon Credle moved to Red Bank, NJ and later lived in Fairhaven and Neptune, NJ. He held various jobs and became manager with his brother, Herman, of Mobil Gas Station on Shrewsbury Ave, Red Bank, NJ. He was one of the best mechanics in Monmouth County. He was later employed by Walmart, a job he enjoyed, particularly interacting with customers.
Deacon Credle’s spiritual foundation was laid at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mesic, NC. Shortly after moving to Red Bank, NJ, he joined Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he was an active and dedicated member.
He was a member of the Men’s Fellowship, and Men’s Choir. He enjoyed Sunday School and Bible Study. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1997. He met and married his loving wife, Jannette Taylor Johnson, in 1994.
Preceding him in death were his siblings, Homer Credle, Jr., Herman L. Credle, Harold Credle, Ella M. Jackson, and Ruby Sawyer.
He leaves to cherish their memories of his journey, his loving and devoted wife, Deaconess Jannette Credle; daughters, Angela Baker (Jeffrey) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Dorene Credle of Dover, Delaware; sons, Carl Jones of Mesic, NC, Kendell L. Simmons (Odettaj of Texas), Clifford C. Johnson Ill (Kenya) of Woonsocket, RI; brothers, Glenwood E. Credle, Red Bank, NJ and Samuel Whitehurst (Cherry) of Spotsylvania, VA; sisters, Neva Ruth Branch and Joyce O’Neal of New Bern, NC, Nettie Pearl Melvin of Toms River, NJ and Lau la Elizabeth Allen of Garner, NC; 2 sister in laws, Barbara Hardin (Charles) Salisbury, NC, and Catherine Stewart (Curtis) Neptune, NJ; one brother in law, Lee O. Taylor (Norma) Neptune, NJ. He has 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.
