Elizabeth J. Bowers, 90, of Neptune, NJ passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020. She was born in Orange County, Hillsboro, North Carolina, on May 29, 1930.
Elizabeth was raised by her mother, Sarah McBroom Allen and stepfather Bernice Allen, along with her sister Cathleen. She attended nursing schools in North Carolina and the New Jersey/New York tri-state area to become a Registered Nurse. Elizabeth was employed by Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center (formerly known as Fitkins Hospital). Later in her career, she was also employed by and provided exemplary patient care, in numerous nursing homes throughout Monmouth county until she later retired.
Elizabeth married James E. Bowers in 1960 and had two children, Michele D. Bowers and Michael E. Bowers. Having married a military man, she and her husband traveled extensively and lived across the United States until settling in Neptune, NJ, sharing over six decades together.
Elizabeth was greatly loved by her family and close friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her delicious southern-style cooking, and nothing was beyond her scope in the kitchen; she was even a marvelous baker. Elizabeth loved music, movies, good conversation, dancing, and sharing time with her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great listener and teacher, but a much better storyteller, leaving behind many beautiful memories, life lessons, wisdom, and knowledge for her loved ones to cherish and carry with us as she transitions into God’s hands.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Bowers; children, Michele D. Bowers and Michael E. Bowers (Christina); grandchildren, Ryan M. Bowers (Ashleigh), Brandon K. Bowers, Dionne I. Bowers-Nicks, and Elizabeth M. Bowers; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh A. Bowers and Ayden J. Bowers.
