Damon Michael Simmons came into this world with a smile that lit up the room on May 30, 1975, to his proud parents Dina and William Simmons at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.

Damon was saved at an early age and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, South Belmar, NJ until he moved.  He completed his elementary education in the Neptune school system and graduated from Jackson High School, Jackson, NJ.  He later moved to Virginia and began his career in the stone fabrication industry.

Damon was a master in the art of transforming raw slate, marble and granite into finished products such as countertops and tiles.  Moving to Lansdale, PA, Damon was the owner and CEO of DMS Stone Fabrication.  Damon loved his family and came back home to work with UNICO Granit and Marble LLC in Newburgh until the company closed.

Always seeking to improve himself Damon attended Dutchess Community College to complete his Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) training and began counseling at Winter Haven and at Anderson Center for Autism until the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.  Damon later joined the Ethan Allen Group, working as a traffic controller for Central Hudson Gas and Electric.  In his younger years his passion for football led him to play for a semi-pro team in North Jersey and eventually inspired him to become a Pop Warner coach for several years.  Damon, a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, was also a health food enthusiast, constantly blending his own juices and healthful mixtures.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Damon Michael Simmons, departed this life at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY. Damon is predeceased by his grandmothers, Daisy Simmons-Green and Joan Parker, grandfather, LC Leroy Parker and his stepbrother, Christopher A. Todd.  Damon leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Dina Parker-Todd (Stephen) and Father William J. Simmons (Gail), daughters, Theresa M. Simmons (Harvell), Shamilah R. Simmons, and son Trace Simmons, three grandchildren, Margaret, Mahogany and HaVaughn Brown, two brothers, William Simmons Jr. and Montclair K. Simmons (Gina), three sisters, Lori Simmons-Williams (Antonio), Angela Simmons-Harris, and Tangela Simmons, and his bonus grandmother, Ethel Johnson, his companion, Sherry Lyn Murphy, and Trace’s sister, Aziyah J’ Esquilin, as well as a host of family and friends.
