Claire Gray Nixon, of Neptune, NJ passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on November 22, 2024 at the age of 91. She died peacefully in her sleep.
Claire was born in Farmingdale, Virginia before her family relocated north to New Jersey. She resided in Jersey City, NJ for many years, and was a resident of Neptune, NJ for the past 40 years.
Claire was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She was a long-time member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Claire was a woman of God, and she loved caring for her family. She enjoyed playing video games on her iPad, and she was a great cook.
Claire was a faithful Bible reader who read the Bible from cover to cover many times over. Her kitchen table was a place of counsel, care, and consolation. You could feel the love at her table. She greeted so many people who entered her kitchen that her pet parrot could be overheard saying, “Hi Claire! How ya doin’? Fine and you!” over and over again.
She was a great listener. When you sat with her you could often feel a heavenly presence. Claire knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Her generosity knew no bounds, and above all else she was a beautiful soul who would help anyone. She made everyone feel special. It was her gift. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Claire is survived by nine children, Janice Hanna, Jennifer Williams, Joyce Ann Sapp, Cindy Nixon, Joseph Nixon, John Nixon, Josephine Gill, Julian Nixon and Jill Nixon, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and an abundance nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
