Barbara Sweet Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Sweet died peacefully on Friday morning, December 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara “Peewee” Sweet and her twin, Beverly, aka Pookie, were born on March 5, 1961, to John and Audrey Bray at Fitkins Hospital in Neptune, NJ. Barbara was an amazing woman and an exceptional mother to her two boys whom she adored. But her mothering spread much further, and she was a mother to anyone
who needed love, both within and outside her family.

She was a nurturer with a genuine heart who cared for everyone and their needs. By profession, she was a nurse’s aide for over 30 years, so caring and compassion were second nature to her.

Barbara was the glue of the family and everyone’s support system. Her generosity made it easy for anyone to return the love to fulfill any of her needs or desires when she needed it. Peewee was the life of the family, and her family loved her dearly. She always kept the family together, reaching out to everyone no matter how far or how long they had been gone.

In her spare time, Barbara loved spending time with her children and her grandkids, and she loved going shopping! She was a true diva.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John and Audrey, her twin sister, Beverly Meizongo, brother, Johnny Bray, grandson, Marcel Downs, stepson, Warren O. Sweet, and bonus son, Peter Sabantini.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving husband of over 20 years, Warren Sweet, her sons, Malcolm (Danielle) Bray, Michael (Rasheeda) Bray, and a daughter, Summer Sweet (Dyshon) Jones, stepchildren, Chae and Reuben Sweet. She also leaves her grandchildren, Michael Jr., Malcolm Jr., Tiara, Tatiana, Davon, Talia, Amber, Daevahn, Samara, Imani, Layla and two great-grandchildren, Armani and ZaDyre, her siblings, Patricia Hill, Melody Bray, Minister Donovan (Minister Rutha) Bray, Ruben Bray, and Paul Bray, two great aunts, Mary Simmons and Glenda Smith, a really special friend, Susan Greene, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends share in the loss of dearly beloved, Barbara Peewee Sweet.

Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.  We love you.
