Andre Hepburn Obituary

Andre Rennison Hepburn affectionately known as “Heppy”, aged 71, of 33 Broad St #11 Freehold, NJ passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at his home. He was born in Belmont, Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad on April 30, 1950 to Joseph and Carnetha Hepburn, and was the 4th of seven children.

He attended Belmont Methodist Primary School and Osmond High Secondary School in Trinidad. His earliest church life was at Belmont Methodist Church. After graduation from Secondary school he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor with the MTS company for many years.

He migrated to the USA in 1990 and found employment in his field as a maintenance Supervisor at a Jewish Nursing Home in Brooklyn, NY. In 1993, he decided to change careers and pursued a Medical Technician Course which he passed with honors. However, before he could make the change tragedy struck, on April 30, 1993 (his birthday) he was shot in the left arm and back during a gas station robbery.

God’s hand was upon him, and his life was spared. After numerous surgeries at King’s County Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, he became a medical wonder to all the doctors and nurses. His love of life and determination to win had him rejecting all the negative predictions made upon his future. If physical therapy was one hour, he completed three. When told he will live his life only in a wheelchair, he showed them that he would learn to walk with arms crutches, which because of the depth of his injuries should not have been possible. With God’s help Andre accomplished the impossible.

He relocated from Brooklyn to New Jersey in 1995 and even though he was officially classified as a disabled person, he once more re-educated and retrained himself, this time in the field of computers. In 1995 he received with the highest honors a diploma in Microcomputers and Microprocessors and became an accomplished A+ Certified Service Technician. He was an official member of The Computing Technology Industry Association.

Church and Computers were Andre’s double passions. His love of God motivated him to give of himself unselfishly to Mt Olivet Seventh-Day Adventist Church and he conducted computer classes at surrounding churches. He was recognized and ordained as a Church Elder on March 12, 2011 and served faithfully until he was called home to glory.

Andre was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Carnetha; and his brother, Keith and Hollis Patricia. He is survived by his loving children, in Trinidad, Kevin (Denise) and Jasmine (Cordell), in England, Allison (Anslem), in New Jersey, Joel (Miho), in California, brother, Rev Joseph (Rev Maureen), in Trinidad, sisters, Pamela, Charmaine and Katherine, in Atlanta, nephews and niece, Wesley (Ayana), Jaime and Jonelle, grandchildren, in Trinidad, Chanise, Kayla, Janae, Jordell and Jevohn, in England, Tsian, in Japan, James and Simon, sister in Christ, Dr Kathleen Wills-Cush, many friends for over 27 years, Wendy, Ivor, Indira, Natacha, Janet, and Florence, family around the world, in England, the Rojas family, in Trinidad, the Wills, Walker, York and Calendar Family, in Tobago, the Nymn and Armstrong family, in Vincent, the Sylvester family, in Florida, the James family, in Alabama, the Auguste family, in Georgia, the Reeder family, in New Jersey, the Thelusca and The Mt Olivet family.
