Alberta January, a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on August 22, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia, Alberta was a beacon of love, warmth, and unwavering faith.
A proud graduate of Brookdale Community College, Alberta valued education and personal growth. She was deeply involved in her church, where she found joy in serving others and providing comfort to those in need. Alberta's home was always open to anyone in search of shelter, guidance, or simply a good meal. She was known for her legendary potato salad, fall-off-the-bone ribs, masterful spades skills, and most importantly, her loving and giving spirit.
Alberta was a mother to all, never hesitating to offer a firm yet fair word of wisdom. She spoke the truth with love and clarity, always serving as the voice of reason for those around her. Her home was a sanctuary where all were welcome, and her presence brought light and laughter to everyone she met. She loved deeply, laughed often, and left a lasting mark on every heart she touched.
Her memory will forever live on in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. While she will be greatly missed, Alberta’s legacy of love, generosity, and strength will remain in the stories we share and the lives she helped shape.
She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Allen Thomas Jr. and Reggie Thomas, as well as her cherished daughter, Christina Thomas. She leaves behind a family who adored her, including her loving parents, Allen Thomas Sr. and Beatrice Thomas (née Smith), her brother Leonard Thomas, Sister Tamicka Mallard and her five devoted children: Aisha Jackson, Amanda Carter, Stephen Thomas, Ernest S. Egu (Jordan Edmond), and Angelica Binot. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Ahmir Thomas, Dylan Edmond, Jazmhiere Thomas, Cherise-Michelle Foster and Ernest E. Egu, plus a host of extended family members, and many dear friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
