William Howard Lyles, 87, of Asbury Park, NJ passed away on February 20, 2016. He was born in Chesnee, SC on April 21, 1928 to Curtis Lyles and Vira Baxter Lyles.
William grew up in Chesnee, SC and made the journey to New Jersey as a young man. He had lived briefly in Delaware and Southern Jersey before making a home in Asbury Park.
William held numerous jobs, mostly in roadwork and construction. He spent many years, until retirement, working for Manzo Construction. William completed his own repair and renovation of his homes, sometimes even supervising work at his daughter's home.
The joy and happiness in his life was his family. He would travel in his RV to South Carolina, Long Island, and other places for family reunions. William also enjoyed wild game hunting with his buddies, attending van/truck/RV shows, and hanging around town with the fellas.
He was predeceased by the following people whom were very special to him, his first wife, Annie Faye Lyles; second wife, Doris Lyles; brothers, Bobby, Robert, Cecil, Curtis, and Austin; sister, Katherine; and best friend, Alberta Parrish.
He is survived by his children, whom will always remember the love, care, and support that he had shown, Vera (James) Jordan, La Verne Washington, Sheldan Johnson, Marilyn Henderson, Angela Lyles, Wendell D. (Joyce) Lyles, Charles (Harriet) Williams and Latrice Payne; grandchildren, Jermaine Wise Snelling, Xavier Jose (Rachael) Lyles, Curtis Jones Jr., Carnell Jones, Nick Olliverre, and Justice Williams; great-grandchildren, Devan, Chanel, TaTyana, Najhera, Atalla, Wise Jr., Jazea, Xavier, Alexis, Curtis III, Ciana, and My'Zhae; great-great grandchildren, Aubrey and Arianna; sisters, Sarah, Louvenia, Mary, Vira, and Martha; brothers, T.C. and Horace, many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; and a host of friends, neighbors, and extended family that will forever be touched by William's life.
