Obituary

Wallace Henry Doman Sr., 96, of Neptune, NJ passed away on March 7, 2016, at home, surrounded by family.  He was born on February 23, 1920 in Atlantic City, NJ.

Wallace was educated in the Quinton public school system.  Upon completion of his education he enlisted in the United States Army, and served in World War II and the Philippines.

Wallace was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church and served on the trustee and kitchen ministry. He was also a member of Post 2639 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Point Pleasant Community Center, and the Brielle Men's Club, a civic organization committed to providing scholarships to students.

He married Bernice Bunting and from that union four children were born:  Claudia, Wendy, Wallace Jr., and Philip.  In their earlier years, Wallace and Bernice served as an au par.  They worked for a prominent family who resided on Park Avenue in New York, and spent summers in Sea Girt with that family.

Wallace then worked for the Brielle public school system and the Sea Girt public school system, retiring as a custodian from Sea Girt Elementary School.  Although dedicated to that position, Wallace's passion was in food, catering and hospitality.  As a result of that passion, Wallace and Bernice started Doman Catering and taught their children table etiquette, food preparation, and the art of culinary decoration.

Wallace was an avid sports fan and would often be engaged in conversations about his beloved New York Yankees.  He was often referred to as "Chairman of the Board," and frequently had conversations peppered with colorful expressions like his classic response to questions – "Is there sand on the beach?", and his reciting:

As I was sitting on a burning deck

Eating peanuts by the pack

My Mother Called Me

But I wouldn't Go

Cause I Loved my Peanuts so J

He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Graver; parents; and blended children, Elmer and Marva Johnson.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Joyce Brown Williams of NJ, Claudia "Hollywood" Williams (Nick) of Neptune, NJ, Wendy (Hen) Arnold of Brielle, NJ, Wallace Doman Jr. of Brigantine, NJ, and Philip Doman of Neptune, NJ; blended children, John (Roberta) Johnson of Flemington, NJ, and Lorraine Uzzle of North Wales, PA; ten grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Throughout his entire life, Wallace touched countless people with his charismatic disposition, witty tongue, and his sharp and classic presentation.
