Victor Leroy Young Sr. was born on December 10, 1940 in Harlem, New York to Helen Young. He passed away at the age of 75 on June 2, 2016.

Victor grew up in Glenelg, Howard County, Maryland. He graduated in 1958 from Harriet Tubman High-school.  After graduation he moved to New York City where he began his employment as a grocery clerk.

On August 19, 1971, Victor met Ernestine Hutto and quickly fell in love with her.  They married on December 10 of that same year – the day of his birthday!

Victor and Ernestine continued to live in NYC until they moved to Lakewood, NJ in 1975. He transferred his employment to New Jersey while Ernestine commuted to the city where she worked for the New York City Housing Authority. In 1979 Victor and Ernestine gave birth to their son, Victor Leroy Jr., who passed away at 2 1/2 years of age.

One of Victor's past times was bowling.   He played in several leagues and had many trophies which decorated his home. He also loved to entertain.  Victor would have basement get-togethers and his infamous 4th of July barbecues.   The barbecues brought over a hundred friends and family members together for over 20 years! Victor will always be remembered for his endless grill of BBQ ribs, love of Budweiser, and his easy going way of making people smile.

He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Young; step-father, Roland "Jiggs" Johnson; brother, Calvin Hall; and his grandparents.   He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Young; godson, Jonathan Sandridge; brother, Vincent Manley; niece, Michele Bowman (Robert); 3 nephews; uncles, Samuel Young (Jeannette), and Charles Young (Carol); aunt, Edna Johnson (Walter); and a host of cousins and friends.
