Richard Earl Johnson, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, one day before his 91st birthday.  He was born on July 7, 1935, in Neptune, New Jersey, to Eula Mae Johnson and Archie C. Johnson.

Richard was raised and educated in Neptune, where he developed the strong work ethic and values that defined his life.  He proudly served in the United States Army's 82nd Airborne Division from 1954 to 1957.  After his military service, he owned and operated an automotive repair shop before discovering his true calling as a master carpenter.  To Richard, carpentry was more than a profession - it was an expression of pride, skill, and craftsmanship.  Above all, he believed in Jehovah, His Word, the Bible, and His promises.

Richard found joy in life's simple pleasures.  He loved watching classic Westerns, making his famous homemade spaghetti sauce, baking his legendary sweet potato pies, and opening his home for gatherings with family and friends.  He never met a stranger and had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome.   His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others earned him the love and respect of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula Mae Johnson and Archie C. Johnson; his sister, Lila Collins; his brothers, Lewis "Sonny" Johnson and Archie C. Johnson Jr.; his step-son, Darryl E. Hailman; and his nephews, Ronald Johnson and Richard Collins.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marjorie Johnson of Maryland; his sons, Sir Johnson, Rodney Johnson, and Richard Johnson (Yolanda), all of Maryland; his niece, Iris Armstrong (Christopher) of Missouri; his nephew, Maurice Johnson (Gayle) of Kansas; his great-niece, Keri Johnson-Strong (Perry) of New Jersey; his great-nephews, Aa'ron Johnson of Missouri and Damian Coleman (Robin) of Guam; his dear friend, Lynn White of New Jersey; Marcos Hernandez of New Jersey, whom he loved like a son; Ashley Gee of Texas, his cherished honorary granddaughter; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and many other beloved great-great nieces and nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Richard's life was defined by faith, service, hard work, generosity, and love. Though his hands are now at rest, the legacy he built through his family, friendships, and craftsmanship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
