Patricia Thomas, 92, of Brielle, NJ passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ in the early morning on Monday, February 20, 2017 with her family at her side.
Patricia was born on August 28, 1924, in Rice, VA. She was the youngest of seven children, born to the late Sarney and the late Lealia Watson. Patricia attended Brielle Elementary School and Manasquan High School, Manasquan, NJ.
Sarney and Lealia had a solid Christian foundation and raised their family accordingly. Patricia was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church, Manasquan, NJ where she remained a faithful member for many years.
After graduating from Manasquan High School, she began her career working for the Federal Government in Bradley Beach, NJ. She then met and married Walter M. Thomas, and from that union three children were born. Patricia continued her 37 year career as a procurement specialist, retiring in 1985 from Fort Monmouth, NJ.
Patricia was a woman of faith, who spent much of her life serving at Shiloh Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer, pianist, and as a member of the Women's Ministry. In addition to her church-related activities, Patricia enjoyed knitting, word games, and spending time with her family and beloved dog, Honeybear.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Walter M. Thomas; son, Matthew; grandson, Corey J.; sisters, Kate Wallace, Virginia Clark, and Nellie Payne; and brother, George Watson.
She is survived by her son, Rodney W. (Jean) of Neptune, NJ; daughter, Kathie R. of Brielle, NJ; granddaughter, Marcey M. of Old Bridge, NJ; granddaughter in-law, Yiisa of Neptune, NJ; two great grandsons, Isaias and Isaac, also of Neptune, NJ; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
