Rev. Reginald Llewellyn Bellamy, 56, of Jersey City, NJ passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, on Saturday, February 14, 2016.  He was born on July 3, 1959 in Jacksonville, FL to Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Bellamy.

He began his religious career at the age of 12 in Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.  Rev. Bellamy delivered his trial sermon to a congregation of 500 members on August 15, 1971.  The late Rev. Dr. H. P. Sharper was the minister of the church.

Rev. Bellamy was licensed as a minister at the age of 12 and ordained at the age of 17.  He was licensed under the jurisdiction of the Newly Organized Genesis Missionary Baptist Church. The late Rev. Dr. H.P. Sharper was the founder and pastor of the church. Rev. Bellamy served as the Assistant Pastor in the church for 5 years.

After the death of Rev. Dr. H.P. Sharper, Rev. Bellamy returned to the Abyssinian Baptist Church.  He served faithfully at the church for many years under Rev. Dr. Elton T. Byrd and Rev. Dr. Perry Simmons, Jr.  Rev. Bellamy also served for 5 years as Assistant to Pastor of Mt. Erie Missionary Baptist Church in Jamesburg, N.J.

Rev. Bellamy married the former Ms. Jewel Willabus, now Jewel Bellamy. They both joined the Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, NJ in 1995, which was under the leadership of the late Pastor Leonard H. Shamberger. It was in this church that Rev. Bellamy became very active in teaching.  He became the Director of the "The Bible Book by Book Training Institute".  The institute offered accredited academic courses to anyone over the age of 18 years. He also assisted in a project for Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church to obtain tax exempt status as a nonprofit organization.

Rev. Bellamy was pastor of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in 2002.  He served faithfully in the church for four years. Under his direction the sanctuary was renovated, the mortgage paid off, and a new roof and boiler was installed. Pastor Bellamy, with the assistance of his wife, Sister Jewel, aided the Church in its most noted achievement in 75 years, becoming almost a 100% tithing church.

God had Blessed Rev. Bellamy with the ability to preach, reach people, and teach. In July 2007 Rev. Reginald L. Bellamy became pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Asbury Park, NJ.  He served there for three years. The church achieved many outstanding goals during Rev. Bellamy's first year as pastor.  Some achievements were The Officers Training Workshop, which prepared officers for their duties before they became installed, and musicians were added in the Music Ministry.

Under his direction the church grew spiritually and financially; souls were saved, new officers were appointed, a new choir, Voices of Friendship, was formed, the Youth Ministry was re-vamped, Associate Ministers were added to the staff, and various officers were added to different ministries to serve in the church. The Women's Ministry was organized by the former First Lady, Jewel Bellamy. She worked in many areas of the church and served as the Assistant Church Secretary.

After leaving Friendship Baptist Church, God moved in Pastor Bellamy to organize and become the Founder of New Life Fellowship Baptist Church Ministries in Tinton Falls, N.J. The church was created on December 19, 2010 when a group of baptized believers and the founder, Pastor RL Bellamy, marched into the recent worship place as an organized chartered church. The idea to found a new church grew in the heart and mind of Pastor Bellamy.  A meeting was called at the home of Sister Sharon Green, along with the founding members, to organize and incorporate New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Tinton Falls, NJ. God had been our source of strength.  God and Rev. Bellamy had been our support for the past five years. The New Life Church family will hold on to the great memories

He was a graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A Degree in Sociology.  He was also awarded a degree from the School of Paralegal Studies in Minor & Criminal Law. He was an educator and worked in the Newark Public School system as a substitute teacher for many years, teaching K thru 12th grade.  He also taught Special ED for special needs children.

Rev. Bellamy was a recipient of many honors and scholarships. He served in the Seacoast Missionary Baptist Association under the Administration of the Moderator Dr. Edward Harper, was a part of the General State Convention of New Jersey and the Deacons Union of N.J., past member of the Executive Board of the Trenton Branch of NAACP, Past Chairman of the ACTSO Committee (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics), past President & Founder of the Baptist Gospel Ministers Association, Inc., former choir member of The Arts High Gospel Chorus, Seton Hall University Gospel Chorus, Male Chorus of Abyssinian, member of the Mass Choir and Voices of Abyssinian, former member of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Newark & Vicinity, former member of the North Jersey Committee of Black Churchmen, and former member of the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance.

He traveled wherever he felt the Lord directed him to go.  He impacted many lives with his "Visitation Outreach Ministry", which was so dear to his heart. Some of the facilities where he visited and supported residents were Neptune Rehabilitation and Care Center of Neptune, King Manor Care & Rehabilitation Center of Neptune, Hamilton Park Health Care Center, Jersey City, and Alaris Health of Jersey City.

He had ordained and baptized many individuals, dedicated babies, married couples, performed eulogies for numerous deceased people, taught Sunday schools, sung many hymns, preached countless sermons, and Consecration of Deaconesses. He was also very happy because Brother Ron Jackson was recently installed as a Walking Deacon.  The church made history in Jersey City, NJ.

Reverend Reginald Bellamy loved to sing old fashioned hymns that his mother taught him as a childhood minister. He was a revivalist and credits his father, Brother B.D., and mother, Sister Rutha Mae Bellamy, for his spiritual upbringing and ethical training.  His motto was: "All who teach one, can reach one".

Pastor Bellamy and First Lady Jewel Bellamy are the proud parents of three beautiful children, Bianca, Benjamin, and Brianna Bellamy. Reverend Bellamy loved bowling and he often bowled to relax and exercise.

Rev. Bellamy had over 30 years of experience as a paralegal in litigation and judgments. He was excellent in his work and was unsurpassed when it came to "Skip Tracing". He worked with various law firms in the northeast. He was employed at Allen Maxwell & Silver in Englewood Cliff, NJ. He loved his job and knew the law firm had very high regard for his work.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, BD and Rutha Mae Bellamy; and one sister, Shirley Mack.  He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted and faithful wife, Jewel Bellamy of 20 years; three children, Bianca, Benjamin, and Brianna Bellamy; two sisters, Cheri Phillips (Ronald) of Scotch Plains, NJ, and Brenda Bellamy-Jones (Jerry) of Edison, NJ; one brother, Benjamin Bellamy (Carolyn) Myrtle Beach, SC; nephews, Mark Phillips, Matthew Phillips (Shantay), Michael Phillips (Nicolette), and Duane Bellamy (Monica); two special nieces, Jarraia Spears (Ronald Sr.), and Sheri Nowlin (Patrick); father-in-law, Fredroy Willabus of Guyana, South America; two sisters-in-law, Natalie Trim of Guyana, South America and Simone Deaubvellie of St. Lucia; three brothers-in-law, Yohan, Marvin, and Rovin Willabus of Guyana, South America; his spiritual leader, Apostle Anthony Smith; one childhood friend, Pastor Lathan Woods; one godson, Baby George III; the faithful members of the New Life Fellowship Baptist Church Ministries; Brother William Ysaquirre (even though he was in a wheel chair, attended the church faithfully, and was one of the first members to join the church); Sister Sharon Green and Brother Stephen Allen Bryant, who truly supported him in his vision and followed him on the road wherever he preached.

Pastor Bellamy's Favorite Scripture was John 9:4 I Must Work The Works Of Him That Sent Me, While It Is Day: The Night Cometh, When No Man Can Work.
