Paa Kwabena
Ahenkorah
May 16, 1959 — Nov 6, 2016
Oh death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory? But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory by our Lord Jesus. 1 Cor.15:55, 57
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; from now on, they rest from their labours, for their deeds will follow them. Rev14:13
Paa Kwabena Ahenkorah, IV was born on May 16, 1959 in Akyem-Oda. He was the only male of six children of Mr. and Mrs. K.B. Ahenkora, all of blessed memory. When Paa was a little baby, he won the most handsome baby award in the local 'Baby Show Competition' in 1959.
He started his elementary education in the Akyem-Oda Government School and continued it in the Hecta International School. Paa, as he was affectionately called, was very intelligent and always in the top of his class. In 1972 he went from Hecta International School to Adisadel College in Cape Coast for his secondary education; and from there to Accra Polytechnic for a course in Accountancy.
After Paa graduated from Accra Polytechnic, he travelled to Nigeria, and finally returned home in1988. He moved to Accra in 1995 where he worked until 2003. Paa then left Accra in 2003 and moved to the United States of America where he lived until his unexpected death on Sunday, November 6, 2016. He met and married his wife, Mrs. Felicia Ahenkorah (Nee Badu-Mensah), while living in the United States.
Paa was sociable, generous and compassionate; he cared deeply about his family and friends. He would willingly offer a helping hand, not just for his family and close associates, but for all who asked for his assistance. Paa never considered the cost of his generosity to himself.
He fell ill three years ago. He survived the near death experience and returned to his normal life and daily activities after a few months. Paa was fairly well and stable until November 5, 2016 when he suddenly fell ill and died peacefully in the early hours of the next morning.
He is survived by his wife, Felicia; three children, Adwoa, Samuel and Nana; six grandchildren; seven siblings; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Tribute To My Husband
When will this day, November 5, 2016, ever be erased from my heart and mind. A day death laid its hands on my better half. I can't summon up the courage to believe the warm smile, the wise counsel I cherished, his great love for me, and the keen interest in whatever I did is all gone.
"Paa", as I affectionately called him, was the best husband ever. I will forever be thankful that God gave this special man who was loving, transparent, honest, a wise counselor, and above all, a God fearing man to me. I have wished that we live together, even beyond eternity, but death has neglected lofty thoughts and shattered our dreams of enjoying old age together as a couple. My love, my joy, my life, my all, I can't help being empty without you. Kwabena, why have you left your own Afia so sudden?
Paa had a pleasant personality which always drew people close to him. His philosophy was that "You do unto others, what you wish others to do unto you". This philosophy reflected positively in the way he worked and in his social life. He loved to be his neighbors' keeper and shared in concerns of all relatives and friends alike. His arms were opened to all and sundry irrespective of age or gender. His love for mankind won him great admiration which is manifested in the crowd gathered here this day to celebrate him.
You were a great man whom I found all that a wife could wish for in a husband. Your devotion to me and the children is indescribable. My companion, my comforter, my friend, my love, I will forever miss you. Someday we will meet again together, and I will have stories to tell you as I listen to yours too.
Till then, I will hold the fort by God's grace and make you proud of me and your children. Sleep well in the bosom of our maker.
"Fare thee well "M'ADANFO PA"
Tribute To Our Father
A great oak tree has fallen, a rock which we took refuge in is demolished, where shall we hide again? Our hearts are deeply broken and tears have reddened our eyes. We never knew death was so near. With great pain and sorrow, we stand today to pay our last respect to you our lovely father. Our heart, our joy, our strong defender lay before us today speechless and motionless. What a painful day!!
Your untimely exit continues to provoke unanswered questions in our minds. Why did death have to snatch you away from us? Why did death not come later just for you to enjoy the fruit of your labor? Daddy was a great man, his selflessness, humility, wisdom, kindness, principled nature, advices, and above all his Godly manner has brought us this far.
There are no appropriate words to describe such a Father like you. Daddy you are incomparable and irreplaceable, the best earthly father ever. We appreciate your love and sacrifices to give us the best in life.
You loved us dearly and extended that love to even those around us .You always wiped our tears with funny jokes and made us smile in situations where tears were the option. You made sure our home was full of laughter, happiness and peace. Each of us would like to share the latest joke with daddy and take some from him, not forgetting our usual political discussions. What a friend we have lost!
Best friend, the vacuum created by your exit cannot be easily filled. We will always miss you. Though our hearts are full of grief, we will take consolation in your favorite song "Yesu Ka Woho".
Daddy you have fought a good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Fare well Daa, "Adamfopa nante yie. Nyame nfa wo nsie yie".
Tribute To Our Brother
"The righteous perish and no one ponders it in his heart, devout men are taken away and no one understands that the righteous are taken to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace, they find rest as they lie in death. Isaiah 57:1-2.
A thousand words won't bring you back, we know, because we've tried; neither will a million tears, we know because we've cried. Suddenly, our days seem bleak, our nights sleepless, our minds full of questions. Questions which are left unanswered. How do we explain your sudden and unexpected departure to the world beyond.
As we put words together to write a tribute in honour of our late brother, our hearts and minds are deeply sorrowed, but death they say is an inevitable end. Though we find ourselves at a trying moment of our lives, as Christians, we take solace in and in agreement with the writing of the Apostle Paul when he says ".....for me to live is Christ, but to die is gain...".
Paa, as we affectionately called him, was the younger of our two brothers and because he did not have a young male sibling, he played, ate and did everything with us. This love from our childhood really bonded us together.
As we grew up and took our different paths in life, a week would not pass by without Paa calling to find out how each and everyone was doing. In trying moments, Paa would call to lend a helping hand, words of encouragement, always concluding by saying 'Dada taught us to be each other's keeper.'
Paa was not without his faults, but he was loving, generous, compassionate and always ready to help and with a cheerful heart. His life has really challenged us and made our faith in God stronger, especially three years ago when he was suddenly attacked by a very serious health condition. We prayed and God spared his life through divine healing. Since then, he had been fairly well and stable going about his regular schedule and work.
After thirteen years of being in the USA, Paa was planning to come home in December. Little did we imagine that you would be taken away from us suddenly. It is painful to lose you now, but God knows what's best. We will forever remember the times spent with you.
We find solace in the words of St Paul that 'All things work together for good for them that love the Lord'. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.
Paa, Fare Thee Well! Paa Rest In Perfect Peace!
Damirifa Due!!! Damirifa due, due ne amanehu!
Tribute From Power Chapel Worldwide NJ, Inc.
Partings come and hearts are broken, loved ones go with words unspoken. Our consolation is that our brother, Mr. Ahenkorah, who together with the wife and son are members of our church died in the Lord.
Mr. Ahenkorah purchased a musical drum set (which the church greatly needed) when he joined the church. He always supported the assembly of the children of God whenever he was asked for assistance.
His relationship with most of the members, especially the Head Pastor, was more or less of a father and son relationship. However, in all of his relationships he displayed a great respect to spiritual authority (i.e. showing humility, gentleness, and most importantly, polite speech).
The set of drums he purchased for the church has been used up to the current day. In fact, Mr. Ahenkorah will be missed by the church. As I end here all that we pray for, is may our God keep his gentle soul till we all meet again in Heaven. Amen.
