Oscar Leon Mayhue, Jr., passed away on May 9, 2017, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.  He was born on September 7, 1956, in Duval County, Florida; moving to Neptune, NJ as a child.

He attended Neptune Public Schools and earned certificates in refrigeration, air conditioning, and electrical work from Lincoln Technical Institute. He joined the Laborers Union Local 595 in October 1983, where he worked as a painter, laborer, and foreman on various construction sites until his retirement in 2012. He was also a member of the Local 343/595 Retiree Council and served as Recording Secretary for 10 years.

He was a dedicated member of St. Stephen A.M.E. Zion Church in Asbury Park, NJ where he served on the Ushers Board for 10 years, holding the position of Assistant Secretary. He was also a member of The Seacoast Ushers Union where he was recognized and honored for his service at a ceremony this past September.

Oscar Leon Mayhue, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Leon Mayhue, Sr. and Patricia Bland Mayhue; as well as his two brothers, Richard and David W. Mayhue.

He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted wife and soul mate for 38 years, Deborah E. Taylor Mayhue; son, Ali Jamar Taylor Mayhue, Belmar, NJ; daughters, Yolanda M. Taylor, Eatontown NJ, and Deidre Taylor-Seaman (Barry), Eatontown, NJ; three grandchildren, Loren K. Jackson, Chelsea E. Seaman, and Brielle M. Seaman; sister, Linda D.  Mayhue; brother, Alvin Cannon; two special cousins, Joann Daniels and Eugene Sims; nephew, Richard Parker; aunts, Elizabeth Ware, Doreen Sims, Veresta Johnson, and Gloria Lambert; uncles, Willie Mayhue and Charlie Mayhue; and a host of other relatives and friends.
