Monolia graduated from C.S. Brown High School in Winton, North Carolina.   She relocated to Long Branch, New Jersey in the 1940's.  She was an extraordinary woman and loving mother.

She worked as a nurse's aide as what is now known as Monmouth Medical Center.  She also was employed as a wire technician at Electronics Associates Incorporated and Buck Engineering.  Monolia retired from Buck Engineering.  However, to maintain her social interaction, she worked part-time at Freedman's Bakery in Belmar, New Jersey.

She spent her young adult years as a member of Second Baptist Church in Long Branch, New Jersey. After her marriage to Clifford Johnson, Monolia joined St. Stephen A.M.E. Zion Church in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

There, she was ordained a Deaconess, served as the Supervisor of the Young Adult Missionaries, and served on the Ways and Means Committee of the Building Committee of the new St. Stephen Church.  She was also an active participant in the Lay Council, and served on the Ladies Senior Usher Board. Then nine years ago Monolia returned to her home church, Second Baptist Church, in Long Branch, New Jersey.
