Mary Alice Peavy, 75, of Asbury Park, NJ passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016.  She was born on October 12, 1940 in Wilmington, NC to James and Lillie Bell Green.

Mary moved to the New Jersey shore in 1951.  She was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, served on the Usher Board and the Seacoast Ushers.

In 1952 she was employed in housekeeping at Southern Presbyterian Homes for over 20 years, and retired in 2002. During her retirement, Mary had worked as a bus aide and was a frequent visitor of Atlantic City.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Lillie Bell Green; ten siblings; and son in law, Michael David Bowens.

She is survived by two daughters, Elder Sandee Bowens and Tabitha Terry, both of Asbury Park, NJ; three sons, Hermon Peavy of Asbury Park, NJ, Harold Peavy (Melinda) of Neptune, NJ, and Jason Peavy (Kara) of Neptune, NJ; two step sons, Gary Peavy and Michael Peavy; one brother, Charles Lee Green (Delores Green) of Neptune, NJ, one godson, Franklin Bridges; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
