Obituary

Leopoldo (Leo) Horacio Crump, 73, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ after a long battle with cancer. He was born on September 30, 1945 in Guantanamo, Cuba to Roberto Crump and Maria America Dollison.

He was employed as a sheet metal operator at SP Sheet Metal Company in the cities of Toms River and Barnegat, NJ.  During his retirement, he also worked as a part- time sales associate in the Toms River Home Depot plumbing department.

Throughout his years in Cuba during the 60's, Leo's love of science and math became evident as he was a tutor during the Cuban Literacy Campaign, better known as "The Year of Education."  His love of educating others was still apparent in America, as he took pleasure in tutoring his nieces and nephews.  He shared his passion of science and math during these sessions.

In his later years, his passion turned towards national and worldly news.  Every evening you were sure to find him sitting on the porch, drinking coffee, enjoying his cigarette, and watching Anderson Cooper on CNN.  Armed with the news, he took pleasure in a good debate especially during holiday dinners.  Besides the news, he loved watching classic western movies, karate movies, and listening to Celia Cruz and classical music.  Leo married Nancy in 1998 after meeting her in 1980, and their courtship during the 90's. He loved her so much, he married her twice.

Leo was predeceased by his parents, Roberto Crump and Maria America Dollison; two sisters Justina and Lillian Crump; three brothers, Roberto, Juan and Alfred Crump.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Rowley-Crump; daughter, Yaqueline and her husband, Roberto Guitierrez of South Toms River, NJ; son, Alexis Crump and his wife, Tamara of Florida; sisters, Carolina Sherard, Ana Maria Reve Crump, Juana Teresa Crump, Paula Magalis Crump, and Mayda and her husband Erick Maynard; brother, Albert Daniel Crump; 8 grandchildren including Shaina, Michael and David; and a host of dear nieces, nephews and friends.
