John Wesley Garvin, 88, of Eatontown, New Jersey passed away in Fayetteville, North Carolina on March 11, 2017.  He was born in Beaufort, South Carolina on February 16, 1929 to the late Silas and Carrie Leola Garvin.

John served as a sergeant in the United States Army for 30 years, including several tours in Vietnam and Germany before retiring as a civilian government worker.  He later worked at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, New Jersey as a civilian contractor.

John was married to the late Estelle Garvin for 47 years.  He was a thirty second degree Mason.

He was predeceased by his parents, Silas and Carrie Leola Garvin; and two brothers, Edgar Garvin and Woodrow Garvin.

He is survived by one daughter, Essie M. Bailey, who resided with him in Eatontown, NJ; one son, Dr. Rodney Polite and wife, Dr. Cheryl Polite of Pembroke Pines, FL; one brother, Matthew Garvin (Vivian) of Bronx, NY; six grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
