On April 28, 1928, God gifted the world with Jennie Turner Goodwyn. Jennie was the 9th of 10 children born in Drewryville, Virginia to Cora and Jonathan Goodwin.

After graduating from South Lampton High School, Jennie relocated to Lakewood, New Jersey. She attended and graduated from Ocean County College before furthering her education at Glassboro and Trenton State Colleges. Jennie was an advocate of education and began working for the New Jersey State Department of Education. She worked in the school system until her retirement.

At a dance, Jennie met and later married the love of her life, Airman Fred DuBose. Due to his military duties, Jennie became a world traveler.

Jennie's love for God began at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church in Virginia. When she moved to New Jersey, she joined the Sixth Street Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board for 53 years and held the office of Secretary and Treasurer. Additionally, she taught Sunday school and received several plagues in recognition of her contributions to the church. In later years, she was honored and appointed "Mother of the church". She was a champion of education.

Jennie V was a kind, generous, and loving woman who enjoyed listening to music and watching TV. But most of all, she loved being around her family. "Aunt Jennie and Uncle DuBose" initiated and hosted many of our family reunions. The Goodwyn/Tumer families along with special friends came from all over to the popular Lakewood location.

In 2011, Jennie relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina with nieces Yvonne, Cora and Dorothy. She joined Nation Ford Community Church, a senior citizen group, and met new friends. Her niece Mary also visited often.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Turner and Jonathan Goodwyn, husband, Fred Dubose, two brothers, Anthony and Joe Amos Goodwyn, seven sisters, Allie B. Claud, Lillie Gibson, Rosa Bynes, Eliza Fletcher, Lelia Clark, Etta Ryland and Pearl Briggs. She leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews, a goddaughter, and a host of family and friends.
