Obituary

James Massey, Jr. passed away on February 20, 2022, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He was born on January 27, 1944 to the late James Massey Sr. and Amey Shephard Massey in Wilmington, NC. James was the second oldest child of five from the union.

James, affectionately known as "Jimmy", attended public schools in Asbury Park, NJ. As a young man, Jimmy loved to spend time at the Asbury Park boardwalk and fish out on the jetties. Wherever he went in Asbury Park he could be seen catching up with friends. As he aged you could always find him at the Asbury Park boardwalk sitting on his bench enjoying the ocean views and talking to his many friends and even strangers or smiling at all the dogs that passed by.

Jimmy loved watching Football, especially the New York Giants and he loved his New York Mets baseball team. He thoroughly enjoyed eating a good Italian sub with the works and loved to eat chicken wings while watching sports with his buddies. Jimmy also enjoyed shopping and spending quality time with his many friends at Phillips Seaview Tower and his daughter, Jennifer Dracos.

As an older adult, Jimmy joined Epic Church of Sayreville, NJ (formerly known as Faith Fellowship) and he continued to attend services at the church that he adored so much with his daughter, Jennifer.

James was predeceased in death by his parents, James and Amey Massey, one sister, Juanita Massey Crudup, two brothers, Curtis Massey and Steven Thomas Massey all of Decatur, GA.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Dracos of Woodbridge, NJ, one brother, Donald Massey, Sr. of Decatur, GA, three nephews, Keith Crudup (Norma) of Covington, GA, Warren L. Crudup of Atlanta, GA, and Donald Massey, Jr. of Newark, NJ, one niece, Alisa Crudup of Eatonton, GA, and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
