Obituary

Hazel Jean Wilson, 68, of Rahway, New Jersey passed away on October 15, 2016 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. She was born on June 9, 1948 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to Marileen Tillery and Willie Wilkins.

She was a long time resident of Queens, New York. Hazel was employed by New York State Division for Youth as an Administrator, before retiring to live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She married James Wilson, a retired Postal worker and World War II Veteran, in 1993.

Hazel was a Semi Professional Bowler with the Kegler Bowling Association.  She received numerous trophies and awards during her time with them. She sang on the Ed Sullivan show in the 1960's, enjoyed cooking, playing card games, Bingo, watching Family Feud and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to entertain.  She was a very loving, caring and generous person. Known for her bright smile, warm heart and outgoing personality. She devoted most of her life to helping those in need.

Hazel was predeceased by her mother, Marileen Tillery; brother, Frank Killebrew Jr.; stepchildren, Alice F. Wilson and Curtis Wilson.  She is survived by her husband, James Wilson; son, Willie Brown Jr. and his wife, Angela Brown; 3 daughters, Vernita Ramsey, Denise Brown and Marileen Brown; 4 grandsons, Najee, William, Abraham and Alijah; 4 granddaughters, Danielle, Alexis, Angelique and Amanda; 1 great granddaughter, Alani Ortiz; 6 stepchildren, James A. Wilson, Jr., Orangeburg, SC, Sylvia J. Isaac, North Babylon, NY, Charles E. Wilson, Staten  Island, NY, Priscilla Wilson, Orangeburg, SC, Margarette Wilson, Landing, NJ, Marvin Wilson, Loris, SC; 3 very special friends, Jacqueline Joyce Ferguson, Maria Deleon and Debra Burke; along with many other relatives and lifelong friends.
