Gwendolyn R. Smith "Nana", 68, of Asbury Park, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Neptune, NJ.

Gwendolyn R. Smith was born on April 29, 1948 in Saxe, Virginia to the late Alfred and Eleanor Bibby. She migrated with her family to Asbury Park, NJ at the age of 2 years old. She was educated in the Asbury Park School System. Gwendolyn met and married David Smith on May 6,1972.

Gwendolyn was a childcare provider to many people in the community, had a kind heart and would help anyone in need. She was a faithful member and pillar of Greater Emanuel Temple for the past 30 years, serving on the Mother Board as the treasurer. She was also the head of the Hospitality and Greeters Ministry and assisted on the Video Ministry.

Mother Gwen, aka "Nana", was a wise woman of God who will be truly missed.

She was predeceased by her two daughters, Theodora "Teddie" Henderson, and Kim Butler; three brothers, Alfred, Samuel and Christopher Bibby.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, David Smith; daughters, Wallicia "Bibby" Butler, Donna and Kiesha Smith, and Connie Booker; two brothers, Hiawatha and Phillip Bibby; 11grandchildren, Maleeka Purvis, Markim Purvis, MyAsia Purvis, Nadirah Butler and Terek Henderson, Tyshon Henderson, Keisha Henderson, Aliesha Booker, Felicia Booker, Jasmine Hall, and Tanaesha Lastrapes; 10 great grandchildren; 3 god-daughters; and a host and of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
