Effective 9 pm Saturday, March 21, 2020, New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy, had mandated by executive order #107 that all New Jersey residents shall remain home or in their place of residence unless they are obtaining essential goods or services from businesses or government agencies. All gatherings of individuals, such as funeral services, parties, celebrations, or other social events, are cancelled.

These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice from the state governor. Due to the current restrictions, there will not be a funeral service for Emma Haskins.

The family is grateful, and would like to extend their sincere thanks, for all the support and condolences from friends and the community in their time of mourning.

Obituary

Emma Mason Haskins, 101, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, March 23, 2020 at the King Manor Care and Rehabilitation Center, Neptune, NJ.  She was born on October 2, 1918 to the late Southall Mason and Florist Norwood Mason in Clarksville, VA, Mecklenburg County.

She accepted Christ at an early age. Emma married Joe Lee Haskins on February 5, 1938. They were married for 55 years until his passing January 2, 1993. To this union six children were born.

Emma was a lifelong resident of Matawan until her health began to fail 6 years ago.  She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church, Orchard St, Matawan until her health failed. She was active on the Usher Board, Choir, Missionaries and Willing Workers.

Emma worked in the school system in Matawan, and at Holmdel Nursing Home as a Certified Nurse's Aide for 30 years. She retired in 1983.  She enjoyed serving the Lord, spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed crocheting afghans to give to her family.

Emma is predeceased by two sons, Joseph Lee Jr. and Kenneth Lee Haskins; one brother, William Mason; two sisters, Bessie Manuel and Ruth Dodson; and two grandsons, Rozzell Foster Jr. and Anthony Tony Gray.

She leaves to mourn her passing 4 children, Lillian (Joe) Scott, Palm Bay, Fl, Josephine (Harold) Mallory-Watson, Kissimmee, Fl, Eleanor Saunders, Jacksonville, Fl, and Kevin Haskins, High Point, NC; 4 nephews, Benjamin (La Vernia) Haskins, Jersey City, NJ, William (Shirley) Mason Jr., Clarksville, VA, Wilson (Mary) Mason, Clarksville, VA, Kelly (Miesha) Mason, Herndon, VA; 1 niece, Kenya Hardy, Clarksville, VA;  14 grandchildren, Marlene Hutchinson, Yvonne Gray, Michael Gray, Cathy McKnight, Tyesha Haskins, Luciana Haskins, Kenneth Haskins Jr., Lamont Haskins, Aletha Haskins, Kevin M. Haskins, Patrice Haskins, Tre 'Mel Haskins, Correy Haskins, and Dwayne Haskins; 40 great-grandchildren; 17 great great-great grandchildren;  and a host of cousins and friends.

She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
