Clyde Elsie Holloway, 87, of Freehold, New Jersey passed away on February 8, 2017. She was born on June 8, 1929 in Franklinton, North Carolina to the late Buck and Lelear Person.
She moved to Freehold, New Jersey when she was a young child where she started her life. Clyde worked at John L. Montgomery Nursing home for 25 years. This is where she met most of her dear friends. After her retirement she started working as a crossing guard for 7 years.
Clyde received the Lord at Second Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Andre McGuire Sr. She became a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and joined the choir and the usher ministry which she enjoyed. She enjoyed her church family as well as her own family. Clyde loved watching all of her children and grandchildren laughing and having fun at family cookouts.
Clyde was also a charter member of the Lee B. Gibson Temple #1014 of Freehold, New Jersey. Her most favored activities were going to Atlantic City and watching tennis matches. She also enjoyed golf, bingo, watching soap operas, listening to gospel music, and traveling.
She was predeceased by 1 daughter, Mary; 2 sons, Richard and James Jr.; 2 sisters, Virginia and Bernice; four brothers, Mack, Herbert, Buck, and Garland; and 1 granddaughter, Doreen.
She is survived by 9 children, Gloria of Neptune, NJ, Robert Jr. (Alfreda) of Freehold, NJ, Saahir (Naima) of Sayreville, NJ, Raymond of Freehold, NJ, Andre of East Orange, NJ, Shellnadine of Neptune, NJ, Linda of Farmingdale, NJ, Triann ( Darryl) of Lakewood, NJ, Carl of Freehold, NJ; 1 brother, Kirby Person of Bronx, NY; 24 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; goddaughter, Stephanie Morris; Billy Roach whom she called one of her sons; best childhood friend, Edward Blacknall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
