Claudia Diane Williams, 68, of Neptune, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ.  She was surrounded by her family and friends.  She was born on April 30, 1948 in Neptune NJ to Bernice and Wallace Doman.

Claudia was educated in Brielle elementary schools and graduated from Manasquan, NJ High School.  She then attended Business School and was later employed with Monmouth County Action Program (MCAP).

MCAP was an organization in Asbury Park, NJ that advocated for Asbury Park residents; especially in the areas of youth employment, low income housing and better employment practices in the hiring of African American police officers.  Claudia enjoyed her work at MCAP and stayed employed with them until securing a position with the Federal government at Fort Monmouth Army base in Eatontown, NJ.  Claudia held varying positions there, and after 38 years retired as a systems analyst.

Through a previous marriage, Claudia gave birth to her first daughter, Kimberly Danielle.  On August 21, 1976 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Manasquan, NJ, Claudia married Joseph "Nicky" Williams.  From this union, two children were born, Kia Michelle and Joey, Jr.

Claudia LOVED motherhood and her three children.  She stressed education and ensured that they were well mannered and exposed to proper etiquette and speech.  Claudia and Nicky bought a home in the Gables, and for the next 40 years that home served as a hub for family dinners and celebrations.  She spent many years building friendships and relationships with many people that came to appreciate her mild mannerisms, kind spirit and open heart.

In August, 2013, Claudia was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC).  With her family support, she underwent treatment at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA.  Throughout the treatment process, Claudia remained strong, encouraged, optimistic and faithful; never complaining.

After Claudia's father suffered a stroke, he came to live with Claudia and Nicky and they both ensured he was safe and comfortable.  In his later years, Wallace's health declined and Claudia became his primary caregiver.  She gave her all to ensure that he was attended to and that his medical needs were met.

Claudia's passion for service and helping people stemmed from her being a devoted Christian.  Her affectionate smile was a testimony to her kind spirit and giving heart.  She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Asbury Park, NJ for over 40 years.

Claudia is a lifetime member of the National Association of Negro Business & Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.  B&P, as it is locally and affectionately referred to, is an organization committed to promoting and protecting the interests of business and professional women.  In addition to being an active member, supporting service and scholarship fundraising efforts, Claudia held the position of 3rd Vice President for several years.  She delighted in working with young people and supporting them in service, activities, and travel to regional and national events.

Claudia is predeceased by her parents, Bernice Graver and Wallace Doman, Sr.; and siblings, Marva and Elmer.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Joseph Williams, Sr.; daughters, Kimberly Smith of Ewing, NJ, Kia (Ronald) Lyons of Tinton Falls, NJ;  son, Joseph (Joey) Jr. of Neptune, NJ;  blended children, Judy (Kevin) Jones of GA, Tyrone (Shala) Williams of NC; two sisters, Lorraine Uzzle of North Wales, PA, and Wendy (Hen) Arnold of Brielle, NJ; 3 brothers, John (Roberta) Johnson of Flemington, NJ, Wallace Doman, Jr. of Brigantine, NJ, and Philip Doman of Neptune City, NJ; sister-in laws, Rebecca Williams and Amanda Westin; 10 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and  her very best friend of over 50 years, Colette Johnson.
