Obituary

Carleton "Peter" Askew, 76, of Lakewood, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Lakewood.  He was born on March 9, 1938 in Neptune, NJ to Joseph and Helen Askew

He worked for many years at Colonial Farms and Chemical Tankers as a truck driver.  Carleton was a devoted member of the Cobra Motorcycle Club for many years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Florine Askew and daughter, Tracey Sutton.   Carleton is survived by 3 sons, Peter, Brian and Carlton J. Askew; daughter, Audrey George; 4 sisters, Joyce Ames, Joan Allen, Patricia Moody and Gloria Askew; 2 sisters-in-law, Carol Day and Yvonne Hand; brother-in-law, Tony Sutton; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren;  a devoted companion, Betty Ann Mincey and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be from 10 am Friday, August 22 until time of the funeral at 11 am at Mt Pisgah Baptist Temple, 1301 Springwood Ave, Asbury Park.  Entombment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.  James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements.
