Alyce (Spoonie) Dixon, 97, passed away in her home on Thursday, January 11, 2018.  She was born on March 25, 1920 in Lexington, Virginia to Frank and Willie Mae Girdy.   Alyce lived in Monmouth County, New Jersey for most of her adult life.

She was employed for many years at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, New Jersey.  Alyce was a caring and kind-hearted soul with a lot of spunk who worked hard all her life.

She was a wonderful cook.  Alyce organized holidays and family gatherings for days on end, sharing her love and her gifts through the magnificent meals she prepared for everyone.  The recipes she handed down will be savored by her family for many generations to come.

Alyce is predeceased by her husband, Ernest Dixon; infant daughter, Marguerite; grown daughters, Shirley Nowlin and Tina Nowlin; parents, Frank and Willie Mae Girdy; and siblings, Norris and Connie.

She is survived by her sons, Raymond Nowlin (Tracy) of Holland, Pennsylvania, and Zachary Mitchell of Tinton Falls, New Jersey; daughter, Gwennae Mitchell of Tinton Falls, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Maurice, Anthony, Timothy, Corey, Kelly, Brandon and Cody; and many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and other extended family.
