Adelaide L. Dickson, 91, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ.  She was born March 1, 1925, in Portsmouth, VA to John and Magnolia Dickson.

She spent her childhood in Norfolk County, VA and completed her elementary and high school education in Oakwood, VA.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, NC.  Adelaide also received a Master of Arts Degree in Education at New York University. She also attended Boston University, Boston MA.

Adelaide was employed as a teacher in Westmorland County, Cristfield, MD, and worked with the Jersey City Board of Education. After retirement she attended New York University, NY,and studied art  and oil painting.

Adelaide was predeceased by her mother, Magnolia Dickson; father, John L. Dickson; and one brother, Orcellious Dickson.  She is survived by two sisters, Lucy and Magnolia Dickson of Neptune, NJ; and one brother, James Dickson of Columbia, MD.
