William Holland Obituary

William Henry Holland, 81, of Lakewood, NJ passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township, NJ.  He was born on October 18, 1937 in Annapolis, MD to the late Esther and Henry Holland.

Bill was employed as a truck driver for Sears & Roebuck for more than 25 years before he retired.  He was a longtime member of Sixth Street Baptist Church.  Bill served as a member of the Stewards Ministry, Gospel Chorus, Men’s Ministry, and Men of Valor Choir.

Bill served many faithful years in Masonry.  On April 1, 1967 Brother Bill was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason.  In 1971 he served as Junior Grand Steward of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge.  In 1973 Bill became a Past Master of Saint Luke Lodge No. 12, and Free and Accepted Masons (PHA).  He then served as the fourth District Grand Lecturer, followed by District Deputy Grand Master in 1986.  Bill was also a Past Patron of Lady Electa Chapter No. 22, Order of the Eastern Star (PHA), Past Excellent High Priest of King Solomon Chapter No. 8, Holy Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Commander in Chief of Samuel W. Gordon Consistory No. 50, member of the United Supreme Council Grand Inspector General 33°, Past Potentate of Mahja Temple No. 47, and Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

Bill was predeceased by his brother, George Holland.  He is survived by two daughters, Leslie Popolo of Wenonah, NJ, and Sheri Holland-Lee and her husband, Kelvin Lee of West Orange, NJ; four grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Rowley of Lakewood, NJ, Wendell Holland of Chattanooga, TN, and Bryan Holland of Annapolis, MD; and a host of relatives and friends.
