Pearl Parrott Funderburk, 101, of Lake Como, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2019. Pearl was the third of four daughters born to Dorsey and Annie Parrott of Darlington, South Carolina on January 21, 1918.
Pearl married Vance Funderburk of Asheville, North Carolina in 1940. To this union were born two daughters, LaMaris and Brenda. Pearl and Vance celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in December 2015.
Pearl was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, Asbury Park and was an upstanding member of the St. Agnes Guild. In addition to running a tight ship at home, Pearl was also the bookkeeper for the family business, The Redwood Inn. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing clothing and home décor.
Affectionately known as “Momma” and “Aunt Pearl”, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was also a dedicated sister, aunt and friend, and a cherished mother figure to many. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, sage wisdom and wit.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Vance Funderburk; and daughter, LaMaris See Tai (Ronald). She leaves to mourn her loss and reflect on her exemplary life her devoted daughter, Brenda Scott (Raymond); son, William Showell; loyal friend, Bessie Moss; grandchildren, Tara See Tai, Pier Phillips (William), Tracey Scott, Sabra Scott, Michael Scott, Jade See Tai; 10 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
