Monique Stevenson, 54, of Asbury Park, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 27, 2018. She was born on October 7, 1964 in Norfolk, VA and was the third child of Matthew and Fair Imogene Stevenson. She later came to live with her grandmother in Englishtown, NJ.
Monique attended Englishtown Manalapan Public Schools and graduated from Manalapan High School in 1982. She attended Stockton State College in Galloway, NJ before going back to Texas, where her son Frederick was born. Monique graduated from Medical Careers Institute in 2011 as a medical assistant.
At the time of her death, Monique was employed by the Visiting Nurses Association of New Jersey as a medical assistant providing care to the most vulnerable clients. She treated her critically-ill clients with the dignity and respect they deserved. Monique was loved by her co-workers, clients and supervisory staff. Management could always count on her to be dependable and professional in all she did.
Monique’s personality came through in all that she did. She loved to laugh, joke around and have a good time. She didn’t mince words. She always said what was on her mind. In her youth Monique was in an African Dance Troupe and was a very good softball player. As an adult, she enjoyed watching sports with her nephews Michael and Da-Shon and going to their football games. Monique enjoyed cooking. She would bring her Grandmother, Lila Stevenson large pots of oxtails and greens to enjoy. Her sisters, Stephanie and Tracey, loved when Monique would stop by to talk, laugh and go out to eat. She was a live wire, who was loved by her family!
She was predeceased by her parents, Matthew Stevenson and Fair Imogene Stevenson Franklin; brother, Matthew Stevenson; grandmother, Lila Stevenson; dear aunt, Pokey Stevenson; and a very close cousin, Kisha Robinson.
Monique is survived by her son, Frederick Domonique Brown; granddaughter, Morgan Fair Brown; two sisters, Stephanie Stevenson and Tracey Taylor; stepmother, Earlene Stevenson; stepbrother, Lenny Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
