Lois Gray Lewis Allen was born in Dixon Mills, Alabama to Lucille and Harvey Lewis on June 21, 1939. She went home to Glory peacefully on March 31, 2019 with her loving daughter by her side.
Lois was educated in the Marengo School System in Dixon Mills AL and graduated from Marengo High School. She later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to live with her dear Aunt Nell Gunn.
She later met and married Jerry Allen Sr. on July 1, 1961 and resided in South Toms River, New Jersey until the time of her passing. From this union two children were born, Darlene and Jerry Jr.
Lois joined the Jones Chapel Methodist Church in Dixon Mills at a young age. When she moved to Toms River, Lois joined the Second Baptist Church in March 1976 with her children, and was baptized by Rev. Louis Harmon. She loved folding and preparing the church bulletins with her daughter Darlene right until the time of her death.
Lois was employed by Tom and Dorothy Muccifori, Toms River for 33 years. Their relationship was more than employer and employee, she considered Tom, Dorothy, JoAnn, Theresa, Tom Jr, Jackie, Jessica, Matthew, Tommy, Caroline and Katie as her second family.
She loved to cook, bake and took pride in keeping her house immaculate. She also loved to spend time in the yard doing yard work and tending to her precious flowers. She was especially proud when she won the neighborhood award for Best Yard Winner two years in a row.
Lois was predeceased by her mother, Lucille Lewis; father, Harvey Lewis; husband, Jerry Allen Sr.; son, Jerry Allen Jr.; brother, LV Lewis; sisters, Brenda Faye (Dean) Quinn, and Armaziel (Mae) Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted daughter, Darlene Allen, Toms River, NJ; four brothers, Essie “Crook” Lewis, Bronx, NY, William “Staut” (Joann) Lewis, Birmingham, Alabama, Michael “Nut” Lewis, Dixon Mills, AL, and Lorenza “Whip” Lewis, Dixon Mills AL; three sisters, Barbara “Honey” Hosea, Dixon Mills AL, Fannie “Sally” Bacote, Fayetteville, NC, and Annie “Tot” Collins, Fayetteville, NC; one sister in law, Beverly Allen, Philadelphia, PA; one loving aunt, Nell Gunn, Philadelphia, PA; godson, Jamal Rhines; special adopted grandchildren, Kiana Brewton, Katie Neyland, and Karl “KJ” Sowell; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
