Jorge Rowley Anderson, 71, of Lakewood, New Jersey, passed away on May 3, 2019, at Atlantic Coast Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Lakewood, NJ. He was born on February 22,1946 in Guantanamo, Oriente, Cuba to Joseph Rowley and Mercedes Anderson Rowley. He was the first of four children.
Jorge loved to read history and learn new things. He was accepted to Kean College to pursue fluency in English in order to acquire a degree in electrical engineering; a trade he began in Cuba. He worked as an electrician and assistant handyman.
He enjoyed composing music, and was a talented musician. Jorge produced a song entitled, “Super Resistir.” He also loved to dance. As a young man, he choreographed Sweet 15 dances. He was known to show off his dancing skills at family gatherings, and enjoyed having the attention of the audience.
Jorge was predeceased by his father, Joseph Rowley; and nephew, Gladstone McLean, III. He is survived by three children, Kelli Michelle Glover Rowley (Camden), Jorge Rowley Gallinat (Miami, Florida), and Maribel de la Caridad Rowley Gallinat; one granddaughter, Maribel Montoya; two great grandchildren, Myrthe Montoya Rowley, and Juan Carlos Montoya Rowley both from Cuba; his mother, Mercedes Anderson Rowley; siblings, Jose Rowley, Julia Rowley de Barrera, Nancy Rowley-Crump (Leopoldo Crump); ex-wife, Maribel de la Caridad Gallinat, Cuba; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
