Johny B. Lewis, 82, of Freehold, NJ passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, NJ. He was born on May 18, 1936 in Hardaway, AI to the late Will B. Lewis and Willie Bell Richardson.
He was employed at Marlboro State Hospital, Morganville, NJ as a Trade Instructor retiring in 1995 after 27 years. Johny was a long time faithful member of the Old Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Manalapan. He faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry and sang in the Senior Choir. His favorite song was “Keep Me Every Day”. Before his health began to fail, Johny regularly attended and participated in Wednesday night prayer meeting and Bible Study, and he attended Sunday School faithfully. He married the love of his life, Laura Ringer. They were the proud parents of two sons now deceased.
Johny was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Wendell and Nicky; brother, William Lewis; and sister, Doris Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Laura R. Lewis; brother, Rodel ( Mary) Lewis; brother in laws, Eugene Harris, Willie Ringer and Walter Ringer; sister, Margaret Hall; sister in laws, Elizabeth Arnold and Rutha Mae Lewis; god children, Tyree Moses Mabson and Dasani Haskins; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Old Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church family.
