Inez Stanard Obituary

Inez Helen Standard, 97, was born on September 24, 1921 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center (formerly Fitkin Hospital) in Neptune, NJ.  She was a native of Asbury Park, NJ and her last residence was in Neptune.  She now peacefully resides in the mansion prepared for her by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sister Inez attended Bangs Avenue School and Asbury Park High School, Asbury Park, NJ and Toms River Technical School of Nursing, Toms River, NJ, where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree.  She retired from Fitkin Hospital after 37 years of dedicated service and was an Avon Cosmetic Representative for 45 years.

Sister Inez was a lifelong member of St. Stephen A.M.E. Zion Church and a Sunday School attendee.  At the age of 10, she sang her first solo in the youth choir.  She continued to lift up her voice to sing God’s praises in the St. Stephen Mass Choir, often singing duets with her sister Ella Ford, until her final days.  She was also a member of the Woman at Heart Ministry, the WH&OM Society, and a Class Leader.  Sister Inez also served as secretary for the WH&OM Society and both treasurer and secretary of the Mass Choir.  She attended weekly bible study and occasionally attended Sunday School.

Sister Inez was predeceased by her parents; one brother; and two sons, Ronald Stanard and Cleveland Stanard. She leaves to mourn and cherish her beautiful legacy a dedicated sister, Ella Ford; two loving daughters, Harriet Stanard-Council and Remelda Murchison; a faithful nephew, Robert (Homey) Williams; an always attentive daughter-in-law, Jean Shepherd; nine grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, numerous other family members, steadfast friends, and her ever present church family.

Sister Inez’s favorite scriptures were Psalms 34:1 ”I will bless the Lord at all times; His praises shall continually be in my mouth,”, and Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding; In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.”
