Clifton “Dwight” Patterson, 59, of Neptune, NJ, departed his earthly journey to rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 9, 2018.
Dwight was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 15, 1958 to the late Otis Frazier and Mattie Patterson Corbett. He attended elementary and junior high schools in St. Petersburg, FL and finished his schooling at Asbury Park High School.
Dwight was very talented and enjoyed wood carving, fishing, playing chess, and bowling. He especially loved to play cards namely Spades and Casino. He enjoyed swimming, which is why he performed lifeguard duties at the Boys & Girls Club, and various other places for many summers. He also loved watching football, especially his favorite team, the NY Giants. He was a social being and loved people from all walks of life.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, affectionately known as “Uncle Nut-Nut” to them. He created special memories with each of them that they will be able to cherish forever.
Dwight was predeceased by both his parents, Otis Frazier and Mattie Patterson Corbett; one sister, Shirley Batson; and two brothers, Arnold and Marshall Patterson.
Dwight leaves to cherish many special memories, two sons, Clifton Lee of Philadelphia, PA, and James Patterson of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Aliciann Patterson of Atlanta, GA; one stepdaughter, Dianna Overton of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Glennell Buenamea of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Copeland (Chris) of Panama City, FL, Aretishia Patterson and F. Irene Batson-Rumph (Eric), both of St. Petersburg, FL, and Sheila Batson of Neptune, NJ; nine grandchildren, Shamari, Tkai, Sahjee, Tajmera, Savion, Nykeil, Jaylin, Sade and Keylite; one great grandchild, Tre’Vion; 13 nieces; 10 nephews; two very close friends, Coach Leroy Hayes and Gene Morton; and many other loving relatives and friends.
