Our charismatic and beautiful son, brother and friend, Anthony James “AJ” Carter, 22, of Colts Neck, NJ and formerly of Neptune/Asbury Park, NJ, passed away on May 28, 2018. He was born on February 16, 1996 to Sabrina Lee Carter and Jerry Anthony Carter, Anthony was the youngest of three children. He was raised in a loving home in Neptune, NJ along with his sisters, Brittany Nacole-Ashley Carter and Noelle Alexandria Carter.
Anthony “AJ” Carter could always be found with an impish grin across his face and a skateboard in his hand. His strength, cleverness and imagination would quickly label him a daredevil but it was his uncanny ability to connect with anyone that earned him the reputation for having the biggest heart.
Anthony was an avid lover of sports and during his young life played football, basketball, baseball, soccer and karate. He also enjoyed surfing, motorbike riding, snowboarding, fishing and crabbing.
His time at the New Jersey Youth ChalleNGe Academy at Fort Dix, NJ, where he was both platoon leader and member of the rifle club, awarded him his High School diploma. This later propelled him into a career as an automotive technician. With his seemingly endless positive traits, including his charismatic personality, “unique” sense of humor, and interesting sense of style, Anthony had the potential to be anything from a captivating chef to a brilliant engineer.
The family has decided to dedicate his life to research and he has been selected to be a donor for Boston University Medicine Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center for his CTE symptoms. Anthony’s life could not be saved for the Lord had better plans for him.
Anthony James Carter was predeceased by his grandmother, Dorothy R. Parker; grandfather, Hiram Suber; great uncles, Daniel Jackson and James Roberson; great aunts, Helen Johnson, Hazel Jackson and Junita Roberson-Green.
He is survived by his parents, Sabrina Lee Carter and Jerry Anthony Carter; sisters, Brittany Nacole-Ashley Carter and Noelle Alexandria Carter; girlfriend, Gina Marie and unborn son, Ayden Anthony James Carter; grandparents, Wilma and James Carter; loving aunts, Muriel Roberson and Sandra Collins; uncles, Mark Jackson and James Carter; and a plethora of cousins including, Keith Roberson, Patrina Roberson and Daniel Roberson; family friends including mentors, Adrian Nicholson, Deputy Chief Det. Douglas Johnson, and godparents, April Jones and Crystal Ballard.
Anthony will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was a kind young man that anyone would be proud to call son, grandson, nephew, brother and friend.
