Andrew Greene Obituary

Andrew Greene, 73, of Jackson, NJ passed away on October 27, 2018.  He was born on May 28, 1945 to the late Jimmie and Rena Dennis Green in Wando, SC.

He attended and graduated from Cainhoy High School in Berkeley County, SC. He served in the United States Army for 2 years during the Vietnam War, and received an honorable discharge.

In 1969, he married his best friend, Dorothy Goff Greene, and they enjoyed almost 50 years of marital bliss together. To their marital union, two daughters were born: Monifa Greene and Niyonu Keya Greene. Andrew and his family lived in Bronx, NY for 6 six years and Monroe, NY for 3 years.  They later moved and resided in Jackson, NJ for 39 years.

After serving in the military, he continued his higher education in the field of computer technology and developed a passion for computers, which flourished into a career in Computer Science at IBM.  After 25 years of service, Andrew retired from IBM as a Systems Analyst. Following retirement, he used his computer science expertise and gift of teaching, working as a computer instructor at Ocean County Vocational Technical School, and Star Tech Institute in Monmouth County, NJ where he taught adult and evening education. He concluded his teaching career; educating and mentoring special needs students at Woodcliff Academy in Wall Township, NJ.

Andrew was a very humble, compassionate, and an understanding gentleman.  He always left a friendly and lasting impression with whom all he had encountered.  He always showed great care and concern towards his family and friends. He was always available to listen no matter the situation or the hour.

He was a godly man; filled with endless patience, wisdom, and encouragement. One who exhibited unwavering faith, exceptional strength and never complained. His hobbies included working on computers, attending antique car shows, and listening to jazz music. He loved spending time talking and laughing with his wife and family, grilling, restoring his antique car, and enjoying his home.

Andrew had a vibrant personal relationship with the Lord that included reading the bible, praying together with his wife, and attending bible study and church service. He lived his life giving praise and all glory to God for everything he had attained, and left a lasting legacy in his family to always put God first and honor Him with all you do. He and his wife have been members of Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, NJ for over 5 years; he served in the hospitality ministry.
